Parent Central

We are so pleased to welcome your family to the UL Lafayette Child Development Center! Our goal is to provide excellent care and education for your child in a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment. To ensure that that we can do this, our families need to work together to make the CDC the best place it can be.

In "Parent Central" you will find everything you need to make your child's day run as smoothly as possible, as well as information on what to do and what is expected when things don't go according to plan.

The Domains of Early Childhood Development

Cognitive

Young children develop their understanding and abilities in such areas as math, science, language, and art through both structured and unstructured activities, play, and interactions. The mind of a young child soaks up information like a sponge.

Physical

Both gross- and fine-motor skills are part of every day at the CDC. Time outside is spent running, climbing, and being physical, while class-time activities like cutting, writing, threading, and art projects develop fine-motor skills.

Social

Understanding how to communicate, share, make friends, and get along with others are all integral parts of social development in the first five years of life.

Emotional

Young children are learning how to manage and appropriately express their own emotions such as fear, sadness, anger, and happiness every day. These important skills are the foundation of your child's self-confidence and a positive self-esteem.
