What to Wear?

At the UL CDC we enjoy having the children learn through play and in doing this the children often gets a little “messy”. We are also concern with safety issues and this warrants our policy for a dress code.

We hope these guidelines offer some assistance in meeting our dress code and allow for the child to be comfortable at our program. Please feel free to contact us if more information is needed at 337-482-5739.

Toddler and Two’s:

  • At least 10 disposable diapers. Staff will let you know when supply is getting low.
  • Clothing should be simple enough for children to take on and off, especially during potty training.
  • Pull ups or training pants are required. No underwear is allowed until both teacher and parent agree that child is almost “accident free”.
  • The University requires that all shoes be a closed shoe, such as a tennis shoe. This is for safety sake. If you have a question regarding appropriate shoe wear, please contact the administration office at the center.
  • Change of clothing is a necessity. It is normal for children to have accidents.
  • Please mark all articles of clothing, including jackets, hats and blankets.

Preschool Children (age 3 years to 6 children):

  • Clothing should be simple enough in order to enable the child to put clothing on and take clothing off without the assistance of the teacher. This allows children to be independent for use of the bathroom.
  • The University requires that all shoes be a closed shoe, such as a tennis shoe. This is for safety sake. This means no flip flops, sandals, or clog type shoes are allowed. If you have a question regarding appropriate shoe wear, please contact the administration office at the center.
  • Clothing should fit loosely to allow for freedom in running, climbing, swinging, and dancing. Clothing should be designed for outdoor wear.
  • Clothing must be washable. This enables the child to engage in creative play without fear of getting his/her clothing soiled.
  • Change of clothing is a necessity. It is normal for children to have accidents.
